Deaths of four in NW Allen County ruled murder-suicide

UPDATE (December 1, 2021):

Officials are releasing the names of the victims in Fort Wayne’s triple murder-suicide.

50-year-old Mark Long, his 45-year-old wife Lisa and 15-year-old Mahala Long were all shot to death Monday night at a home on West Cook Road. According to a coroner’s report, 20-year-old Samuel Long shot the three and then later turned the gun on himself.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says another relative who was in the bathroom when the shooting began was able to make it out of the home unharmed.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:

On Monday, November 29, 2021 at about 20:50 hours, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted and notified of a shooting investigation located in the 7100 block of Cook Road. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene reference a man with a gun and multiple shots fired. Upon arrival the medics pronounced the deaths of 4 individuals on scene. All deceased are from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
All deceased have been positively identified and autopsies have been completed. The next of kin has been notified of the deaths.
The deceased are identified as Mark A. Long, male white 50 years of age, is the father and spouse of the other deceased individuals. Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Mark A. Long is the 39th Homicide in Allen County for 2021.
Lisa Renee Long, female white 45 years of age, is the mother and spouse of the other deceased individuals. Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Lisa Renee Long is the 40th Homicide in Allen County for 2021.
Mahala Long, female white 15 years of age, is the daughter and sister of the other deceased individuals. Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Mahala Long is the 41st Homicide in Allen County for 2021.
Samuel Mason Long, male white 20 years of age, is the son and brother of the other deceased individuals. Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of the Head and the Manner of Death is Suicide.
This remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the Allen County Prosecutors Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A 911 call about shots being fired in Fort Wayne is now an investigation into four deaths.

Police say they found four dead bodies inside a home on the 7100 block of West Cook Road, close to O’Day and U.S. 33.

Police say a witness was able to escape the house and call 911. The identities of the victims and the suspect are unknown at this time. It’s also unclear if they are related, or exactly how they died.

The Sheriff’s Department says the deaths appear to be an isolated incident and say there’s no danger to the public.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:

On November 29, 2021, at approximately 8:52 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence in the 7100 block of West Cook Road, regarding a report of gunshots being fired inside the home. Officers arrived at the scene and were able to make entry after observing multiple people down inside the residence through a window. Officers were able to get the unharmed witness out safely. The scene was secured and medics were able to enter. Medics pronounced four people deceased at the scene.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Indiana State Police.

The investigation is ongoing. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release identifications, as well as cause and manner of death for each individual.

There is no reason to believe that the public is in any danger. Officers are not looking for any suspects at this time.
