FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person is dead and another has life-threatening injuries following a crash just east of downtown Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon.
Fort Wayne Police Department officers arrived at the intersection of Maumee Avenue and Grant Avenue at 4:13 p.m. to find one man on the ground outside a Hyundai Elantra and another man pinned inside a Dodge Charger.
Medics took both men to Fort Wayne hospitals. The driver of the Charger was declared deceased once he arrived at the hospital.
The driver of the Elantra is listed as being in life-threatening condition.

On September 21, 2024, at 4:13PM, the Fort Wayne Police Department was notified of an accident with injuries at the intersection of Maumee Ave and Grant Ave. Officers arrived and located the adult, male driver of a Hyundai Elantra on the ground outside of his vehicle. The adult, male driver of a Dodge Charger, also involved, was found pinned in the vehicle. Both males were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Upon arrival at the hospital, the driver of the Dodge Charger was declared deceased. The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was listed in life-threatening condition. The FACT team was paged and responded to process the scene.
Initial information indicates speed as a potential factor. Investigators are on scene taking measurements and collecting evidence. The intersection is currently closed while the scene is processed. There is nothing further at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
