INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The state has lost nearly 346,000 acres of farmland from 2010 to 2022, but the Indiana State Department of Agriculture says agricultural productivity increased.
Director Don Lamb says the “inventory of lost farmland was an opportunity for ISDA and legislators to gain access to reliable data, which up until now, we could only make assumptions.” He adds when agriculture is strong, so is Indiana.
Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch says farming remains the “lifeblood of the Hoosier state.”
