The Allen County Coroner has released the identity of a man who was fatally struck by a train on the city’s southwest side on Monday. A report concluded that Alan Joseph Faulkner died of multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled accidental.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On Monday, May 27th, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of an individual that was struck by a train, in Fort Wayne. First responders pronounced death at the scene.
The individual was identified as Alan Joseph Faulkner, 41, male, White of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Notification has been made to the legal next of kin. The Cause of Death is Blunt Force Injuries due to Pedestrian Versus Train and the Manner of Death is Accident.
The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Norfolk Southeran Railway Police Department, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Police are investigating the death of a man who was hit by a train on the southwest side of Fort Wayne late Monday night.
The man was hit on the tracks that cross West Hamilton Road between State Road 14 and Bass Road. No foul play is suspected. The man’s name has not been released.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department released the following:
On May 27, 2024, at approximately 9:49 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of West Hamilton Road between S.R. 14 and Bass Road, reference a train striking a person. The person was reportedly well off the roadway, nowhere close to West Hamilton Road when they were struck by the train. Officers and medics arrived, locating a deceased adult male, south of Bass Road along the railroad tracks, between Scott Road and West Hamilton Road. The Allen County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Norfolk Southern Railroad Police and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
This incident remains under investigation.
