FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department thinks that an electrical issue could be to blame for a fire Saturday morning. Crews were sent to the 1300 block of McCulloch Street just before 9:30 a.m. and were alerted to a fire in the upstairs of a two-story home.
Two adults and four children were able to make it out safely.
The FWFD released the following:
Fort Wayne Fire Dept. was dispatched on a residential fire. Upon arrival first units found lazy dark smoke coming from the upstairs. Residents of the 2 story house were evacuated and this was confirmed by a quick search of structure. Residents also stated that they thought the fire was in an upstairs bedroom. Engine 9 found a working fire in an upstairs bedroom and rapidly extinguished. Other units assisted with ventilation, salvage and overhaul. The fire is under investigation but appears accidental in nature with possible electrical issues at fault. Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
