FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that no one was hurt but a detached garage on the city’s southwest side suffered heavy smoke, fire, and water damage during a blase Tuesday afternoon. FWFD crews found the garage fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at the 1700 block of Getz Road just before 3:30 p.m.
It took about 15 minutes for firefighters to contain the flames.
The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The FWFD released the following:
Crews were dispatched to a detached garage fire. First crew on scene reported heavy fire involvement. PD shut down Getz Rd so firefighters could access the hydrants on the opposite side of the road. The fire was extinguished in less than 15 minutes. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the garage structure with no extension in to the house. No injuries were reported. FD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA and NCE.
