INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – A measure to restrict when students can use wireless devices in class is advancing at the Indiana Statehouse. Senate Bill 185 passed out of the Senate Education and Career Development Committee unanimously on Wednesday.
The bill seeks to establish statewide guidelines for when students can use cell phones, tablets, laptop computers, or gaming devices at schools. It would also require school districts to make their wireless devices policy available on their website.
The bill would allow students to use devices for educational purposes, emergencies, or to manage their health while in class.
