UPDATE (December 12, 2023):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A Chicago man who was found shot at a Fort Wayne hotel Saturday afternoon has died from his injuries and an arrest was made in the case.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 26-year-old Keelin Woods and an autopsy found gunshot wounds to his torso caused his death. He was found around 3 p.m. Saturday at the Red Roof Inn off West Coliseum Boulevard.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at about 15:00 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting located in the 3000 block of West Coliseum Blvd., in Fort Wayne. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as Keelin Woods, male, Black, 26 years of age, from Chicago, Illinois.
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin. The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wounds of Torso, and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Keelin Woods is the 28th homicide for Allen County in 2023. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Monday afternoon, the Fort Wayne Police Department announced that an arrest was made in the case. Police say that 21-year-old Tommy L. Gray was apprehended in Louisville, Kentucky where he will be held pending his extradition.

On 12/09/2023, FWPD Officers responded to a shooting investigation at the Red Roof Inn located at 3017 W. Coliseum Blvd. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim, identified as Keelin Woods 26yo, suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). Life saving measures were attempted, but Mr. Woods succumbed to his wounds and was later pronounced deceased. FWPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a criminal investigation. Homicide Detectives identified Tommy L. Gray 21yo as the suspect of the shooting and a Murder warrant was issued for his arrest. On 12-11-2023, U. S. Marshals located Tommy L. Gray in the Louisville, KY area and took him into custody without incident. Tommy L. Gray is currently being held in the Louisville, KY jail pending extradition on the charges of Murder, Attempted Murder and Leaving the Scene.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person is hospitalized in critical condition and near death after being shot Saturday afternoon in Fort Wayne. The shooting happened at the Red Roof Inn on West Coliseum Boulevard around 2:50 p.m. Police have not been able to say if there is a suspect still at large and have not made any arrests. Officers do, however, say there is no threat to the public.

On Dec 9th, 2023, at approximately 2:50pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of 3017 W Coliseum Blvd. Officers arrived and found an adult, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical aid until relieved by paramedics. The victim was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition, imminent death.
Detectives are canvassing for any witnesses and looking for any video surveillance. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene, looking for any evidence. There is no threat to public safety.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Officer, and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
