FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says officers are investigating a shooting near the intersection of Lima and Production Friday evening.
It happened just before 5:45 p.m. when two men were reportedly involved in an altercation. Police said one of them showed a gun. And by the time it was over, one of the two men was shot in the “neck area”. That man is now reportedly in stable condition.
Police say they have not made any arrests in the case.
The FWPD released the following:
On Friday, September 22nd, 2023, around 5 p.m., Fort Wayne Police Department officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lima and Production Roads reference a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered one male with an apparent gunshot to the neck area. The suspected shooter remained on scene. From witness accounts, prior to the shooting, two males were involved in an altercation at the mentioned intersection. A handgun was displayed, and one of the two males was shot. The victim was determined to be stable per hospital staff.
Fort Wayne Police Department detectives, Crime Scene, and Air Support Units were called to the scene for the investigation. They will be interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to help determine what occurred. No one was in police custody at that time.
