FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say that a bicyclist has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car early Friday morning.
The Fort Wayne Police Department says that at approximately 2:35 a.m. they were called to Coldwater Road just south of Collins Road.
Police say a White Ford Transit van was heading northbound on Coldwater Road when it struck the man on a bike before taking off. Witnesses said the van continued on Coldwater Road. One person even attempted to follow the van but lost it. Right now, police continue to investigate.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigation a hit & run life-threatening crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle, that occurred on March 31st, 2023, at approximately 2:35 am at Coldwater Rd just south of Collins Rd. Preliminary investigation indicates that a White Ford Transit van was northbound on Coldwater Rd approaching Collins Rd. The White Ford then struck a bicyclist who was on the roadway. This White Ford then continued northbound on Coldwater Rd. A witness attempted to follow the vehicle but eventually lost sight. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital and was later determined to be in a life-threatening condition.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Air Support Unit were requested to investigate the crash. The north lanes of Coldwater Rd from Coliseum Blvd to Collins Rd are currently closed while crash investigator document the scene.
