UPDATE (December 2, 2022):
Fort Wayne police say that a man suspected of shooting another man on Brooklyn Avenue has now been arrested.
Police say that initially, 33-year-old Christopher Vibbert claimed that it was self-defense when he shot the victim, reportedly his brother, around 11 on Wednesday night.
Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that Vibbert is now charged with domestic battery with a deadly weapon.
The FWPD released the following:
Fort Wayne Officers responded to a reported shooting investigation in the 2300 block of Brooklyn Avenue. A victim was located and determined to be suffering from gunshot wound(s). He was transported to the hospital and classified in Life Threatening condition. The Homicide Unit conducted the investigation and arrested Christopher Vibbert for Domestic Battery w/ Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Battery. He is currently confined at the Allen County Jail.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being shot just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. The man who shot him called 911 to report he had done it in self-defense.
The man claimed that the gunshot victim was attacking him at a home on the 2300 block of Brooklyn Avenue. He is cooperating with the police. Officials say they are still investigating.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Wednesday November 30th 2022 at approximately 11:09 pm officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the 2300 block of Brooklyn Ave regarding a shooting. A male called 9 1 1 claiming another male attacked him, and that he shot the male in self-defense. Officers arrived and found an adult male victim suffering an apparent gunshot wound. TRAA transported the victim to a local hospital where he was declared to be in life threatening condition. The male who called 9 1 1 remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
