ALBION, Ind. (ADAMS) – For the past year, four of the “Tiger King” tigers that were seized from Jeff & Lauren Lowe by the Department of Justice in the spring of 2021 have been in protective custody at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary.
At the time, the DOJ seized federally protected lions, tigers, lion-tiger hybrids, and a jaguar after a complaint and lawsuit under the Endangered Species Act. The four tigers were among the 60+ animals seized.
Now, Black Pine says they have found their forever home at the sanctuary in Albion. The group made the announcement on social media this week.
Prince, Ima, Elvis & Patronus were four of 68 big cats removed for animal welfare violations from the former Tiger King Zoo in Thackerville Oklahoma. Late Tuesday Black Pine Animal Sanctuary received notice that the tigers are now permant residents of Black Pine Animal Sanctuary where they will be able to live out the rest of their lives. All of us at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary appreciate you, our donors and supporters, who helped make this possible.
Black Pine Animal Sanctuary has been a forever home for displaced and captive raised exotic animals since 2007. They are supported fully by donations, grants and fundraising events. Black Pine is a 501(c3) nonprofit. All contributions remain in the community supporting the animals, staff and services needed to care for over 80 animals.
