FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWFD officials say that 125 people, including pets and 25 children, had to be evacuated from a West Coliseum motel on Saturday morning as crews responded to a fire.
According to the Fort Wayne Fire Department, crews were called to the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel around 2 a.m. on reports of a fire in one of the rooms.
They found smoke in a hallway and began looking for the source of the fire. After locating the flames, crews took around 10 minutes to gain control. They report that no injuries were reported.

Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a reported fire in a room at the Suburban Inn at 3320 West Coliseum Boulevard early this morning. First arriving firefighters reported smoke in the hall and began searching for the source. Members of Engine 6 quickly found a fire in one of the first floor rooms and began extinguishing the blaze. Additional arriving units began to evacuate the immediate area of the fire and eventually removed all occupants with no injuries reported. The fire was extinguished in approximately 10 minutes without incident. The smoke throughout the west end of the building took several minutes to evacuate and a secondary search of the area was completed with no one found. Firefighters were assisted by FWPD, TRAA, NCE and Allen County Building Department. Fire investigators are working to determine if the structure can be occupied and assisting to find lodging for anyone displaced. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported.
