FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that officers seized a large amount of marijuana from a home close to downtown on Thursday.
Fort Wayne Police said officers with the Gang and Narcotics unit were conducting surveillance on a St. Marys Avenue home.
A release from the FWPD says that a traffic stop was initiated and officers discovered evidence of drug trafficking.
Following the stop, a warrant was issued for the home on the 1000 block of St. Marys Avenue where police found a “large amount” of marijuana.
Marquan Dshawn McGee, 26, of Fort Wayne was arrested on a preliminary charge of Level 5 felony of Dealing in Marijuana. Police say McGee had previously been convicted for dealing.

The Fort Wayne Police Department Gang & Violent Crimes Unit and Vice & Narcotics Unit, along with assistance from Northwest Patrol Officers were conducting surveillance on a residence in the area of 1000 St. Marys Ave. The surveillance led to a traffic stop that resulted in evidence of drug trafficking. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and a large amount of marijuana was found inside the home. Marquan Dshawn McGee was arrested and preliminarily charged with a level 5 felony of Dealing in Marijuana with a prior dealing conviction. Marquan is 26 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
