The Allen County Coroner has released the name of a woman who was shot by her husband last week. Initially, she was said to have life-threatening injuries but the coroner now says that she died four days later at the hospital. Police believe that her spouse, took his own life in their home on Willshire Estates Drive on July 19.
The Allen County Coroner released the following:
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the female victim that fled from a home in the 4000 block of Willshire Estates Drive, in Fort Wayne, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at approximately 08:13 hours. The decedent has been positively identified as Thin Thin Khaing female, Asian, 47 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Thin Thin Khaing had been involved in a domestic dispute with her spouse before she was shot by her husband. She fled the residence to a neighbor’s residence, who telephoned the police. Thin Thin Khaing was transported to a local hospital and was admitted. On Saturday, July 23, 2022, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified that Thin Thin Khaing and died at 00:15 hours, on this date.
Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the manner of Death is Homicide. Thin Thin Khaing is the 15th homicide for Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, for 2022.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that one man is dead and a woman is fighting for her life after a shooting on Tuesday morning in a neighborhood close to Trier and Maplecrest.
When officers arrived at a home on Willshire Estates Drive around 8:15 a.m., they found a woman that was severely bleeding outside and determined that she had been shot.
Police already were aware that previous threats had been made by a man at the same residence.
Police believed the man inside to be armed with a rifle. When they tried to locate anyone inside the house, a language barrier hampered communication and called an interpreter as well as someone to help in communicating with anyone inside.
After failed attempts, a ground robot and a drone were able to locate a male in the home who was unresponsive. Emergency Services officers were able to make entry to the home where they found a man dead.
What led up to both shootings and the identity of the deceased man are still unknown. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
FWPD officials released the following:
July 19, 2022 the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Willshire Estates Drive in reference to a problem unknown. Officers were advised that a male caller was stating that a female was outside of the residence and was bleeding very badly.
Upon officers arrival on scene they located an adult female outside suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and officers were also advised that there had been previous threats from the male at this location to shoot people.
Officers had to provide security for the paramedics as they approached since they were told that the male suspect was still inside the residence and was possibly armed with a rifle.
The victim was able to be safely loaded into the ambulance and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
At this point the Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Units were called to the scene to assist in this incident.
There was a language barrier that had to be dealt with and an interpreter was brought to the scene to assist officers as well in attempting to make contact with someone inside the residence.
After all efforts were exhausted in trying to establish communication with someone inside, and search warrant had been obtained it was determined that entry into the residence was needed.
Emergency Services Team members utilized a robot on the ground and Air Support Units utilized an interior drone to check the inside of the residence. A short time later they located an adult male unresponsive on the floor inside. Emergency Services Team members then made entry into the residence and did locate the adult male and paramedics were called inside as well and pronounced the subject deceased.
The Identity of the suspect as well as the cause and manner of death will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
