FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are investigating after two people were hurt in a shooting Sunday morning. Police believe some kind of altercation happened before shots rang out on the 5000 block of Oliver Street.
Police were able to pull over a car thought to be involved. After a short chase, police arrested two people.
Police say they are still investigating.
Both of the victims were adult men. One of them is said to have life-threatening injuries and the other is expected to survive.
FWPD officials released the following:
On June 12, 2022, at 4:17 am the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of 5000 Mount Vernon in reference to shots fired. 911 Operators were receiving multiple calls reporting shots fired in this area, as Officers were responding to the area.
As Officers were responding they were being advised that the shots appeared to have been coming from the area of 5000 Oliver.
Officers were being advised that there appeared to be subjects fighting in the street and that as the shots started there were cars now leaving the scene.
Upon Officers arrival they located 1 adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Officers were given a description of a vehicle leaving the scene that was possibly involved in the incident. Officers located that vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver disregarded and a short pursuit followed. When the vehicle stopped the driver then fled on foot and was apprehended a short distance away. There was also another subject inside the vehicle that was
taken into custody as well.
The 2 suspects were transported to Police Headquarters to be interviewed by Detectives to determine their involvement in the incident. A Short time later Officers were advised that another adult male victim had walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound from the same location.
Homicide Detectives as well as crime Scene Technicians and Air Support Units were called to the scene to speak with witnesses, and process the scene for any evidence associated with the incident as well.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
