FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne is paying a protester $300,000 for the damage officers did to his eye back in the summer of 2020. New court documents say the settlement between Fort Wayne and Balin Brake includes a $300,000 payout.
Brake sued the City, claiming officers abused their power when they hit him in the eye with a tear gas canister during Fort Wayne’s protests following George Floyd’s death.
Fort Wayne isn’t admitting any wrongdoing in the settlement, and the lawsuit has been dismissed.
