WELLS CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A Fort Wayne police officer is on paid administrative leave after being arrested for OWI.
Benjamin Shinneman was in his marked Fort Wayne Police Department squad car on St. Patrick’s Day in Wells County.
Deputies say Shinneman failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content level of .163%
The FWPD released. thefollowing statement as well as Officer Shinneman’s record:
Fort Wayne Police Officer Benjamin Shinneman was arrested March 17th, 2022 in Wells County for Misdemeanor Operating a Vehicle While intoxicated. Officer Shinneman has been with the Department for 3 years. Officer Shinneman is currently on Restricted Administrative Duty (paid status) as the incident is being investigated. This status can change based on the findings of the investigation.
