FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say that they are now looking for a man that got away from a home after a domestic disturbance call Thursday morning.
Police say that he is suspected of not letting a woman and children leave a High Street home for days.
Just after 10 a.m., police say they spoke to a woman that said she had been assaulted and held in the house for several days.
On Thursday morning though, she managed to leave the home and contact the police – running to neighbors to call 911.
Police initially believed he was in the High Street home but after some time it became clear that he had fled.
Police are continuing to investigate and search for the man.

On Thursday December 2, 2021 at approximately 10:04 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence located in the 600 block of High Street in reference to a domestic investigation. As officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with an adult female who advised that she had been physically assaulted and was not permitted to leave the residence for several days by an adult male at the residence. This morning, the female along with her two children managed to leave the residence and contact police.
The male was believed to be inside the residence and possibly armed with a firearm. Officers attempted to make contact with the male for several minutes at which all attempts were unsuccessful. At this time, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit were dispatched to the scene.
Officers continued for several hours to attempt to make contact with the male believed to still be inside the residence which were unsuccessful. Officers with the Emergency Services Team eventually entered the residence and determined that the male subject was not inside the residence. This continues to be an ongoing investigation and additional details will be relayed at a later time.
