OSSIAN, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police are investigating a workplace shooting in Ossian that happened Friday morning.
Police say it happened in the parking lot of the Berne Workwear facility and they believe it was an isolated incident. Two people are now facing charges.
Indiana State Police released the following:
At approximately 10:00 am (Friday) morning, state troopers and officers from multiple local law enforcement agencies in Wells County responded to a reported shooting at the Berne Workwear facility, which is located in the industrial complex on the south side of Ossian.
First arriving officers located an adult male lying in the parking lot, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Wells County EMS personnel arrived on scene within a few minutes and provided emergency care for the victim. The victim was then transported by ambulance to a local Fort Wayne hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.
An adult male suspect was reported as having fled the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala, information which was relayed to all responding officers and was key to quickly locating and apprehending the suspected shooter.
At approximately 10:20am state troopers located the suspect vehicle traveling north on SR1 just south of I-469 in Allen County. A traffic stop was conducted and the adult male passenger, identified as Reonte Cliffton Moore, and the adult female driver, identified as Jayana Lamia Herman, were both taken into custody pending further investigation. Both were then transported to the Wells County Sheriff’s Department for questioning by ISP detectives.
This was an isolated incident that occurred between the two men, both of whom are employees at Berne Workwear. No other employees were injured as a result of this shooting.
After a review of information submitted to the Wells County Prosecutor’s Office, the following arrests have been made and criminal charges filed against the following:

Reonte Cliffton Moore, 28, of Fort Wayne
Ct. 1) Attempted Murder
Jayana Lamia Herman, 21, of Fort Wayne
Ct. 1) Aiding Aggravated Battery, L3 Felony
Ct. 2) Aiding Serious Violent Felon in Possession of Firearm, L4 Felony
This remains an active criminal investigation for which the Indiana State Police is the lead agency, assisted by the Wells County Sheriff’s Department. At this time there is no further information to release.
Agencies assisting the Indiana State Police at the scene were the Wells County Sheriff’s Department, Ossian Police Department, and Wells County EMS personnel.
