FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials are warning of a new phone scam.
This time they have released audio of a man pretending to be a Fort Wayne detective.
FWPD officials released the following:
Some Citizens have been receiving calls from a Police impersonator alleging to be law enforcement and using actual officer’s real names.
Attached is a recording of an impersonator alleging to be Det. Kenneth Johnson and giving a phone number of 260-799-1207. If there is any doubt as to the authenticity of a law enforcement Officer please contact the non-emergency number at 260-427-1222 and the names and phone numbers can be verified through Dispatch. This seems to be a new and ongoing issue that has recently developed.
