INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – It’s now up to Governor Holcomb.
The Indiana Senate yesterday approved the plan to allow law-abiding gun owners in the state to carry their pistols without a permit from the state.
Republicans revived the legislation after some senators moved to gut it last week. Law enforcement groups, including the Indiana State Police, have fought the proposal for years.
Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter told senators that if they support the plan, they “will not be supporting us.”
Governor Holcomb last week said he will “review” the legislation before deciding what to do with it.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana lawmakers are trying again on the plan to get rid of concealed carry licenses in the state.
A conference committee at the statehouse resurrected the legislation that the Indiana Senate had tried to gut last week.
If enough lawmakers agree, the plan could go for straight up-or-down votes as early as next week.
Law enforcement groups in Indiana don’t like the idea of allowing people to carry a gun without a state permit. Supporters of the plan say legal gun owners should be trusted to do the right thing.
