INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Activists at the Indiana Capitol are angry that lawmakers, once again, didn’t act on a plan to allow undocumented residents to get driver’s licenses.
The group Cosecha Indiana held a quinceanera at the statehouse yesterday, marking the 15 years since Indiana lawmakers voted to require proof of legal residency in order to get a driver’s license.
Lawmakers once again this year ignored a proposal to rescind that law. Cosecha’s Mari Luna says about 100,000 people who are in the state illegally are driving, and she says they are driving in fear.
