FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two people and a child are safe after an overnight fire off Wells Street.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department says that crews were called to the 2100 block of Wells and found heavy smoke coming from a two story home just before 4:30 a.m.
FWFD crews were able to get control in about 15 minutes. The home suffered moderate water damage and heavy damage from smoke and fire.
The official cause is still under investigation.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department released the following:
FWFD was dispatched to the mentioned address at 04:22:28 this morning on a reported structure fire. First units arrived in less than two minutes (04:24:12) and found smoke and heavy fire coming from the two story home. Three occupants were home at the time of the fire and self evacuated prior to FWFD arrival. FWFD worked to bring the fire under control in less than fifteen minutes. The occupants were seen by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority on the scene to ensure they were alight and were not transported.. FWFD was assisted by FWPD, AEP, NIPSCO, TRAA, NCC. The fire is still under investigation at this time.
