FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says 23 people had to evacuate when a fire broke out on the first floor of a southwest hotel. Crews were called to the Comfort Inn and Suites on Coventry Lane around 2:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they were able to get the flames under control in less than 20 minutes, according to a release from the department.
No injuries were reported and the hotel suffered minor to moderate smoke, water, and fire damage. The official cause is still under investigation.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a fire at the Comfort Inn and Suites. The first unit on the scene arrived and went inside and found a fire in a first-floor room. The crew pulled a hand line to extinguish the fire. Other crews arrived and assisted in evacuating the building and help control the fire. There was smoke on all three floors of the building that had to be cleared. The fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
