FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man is dead after a standoff that lasted several hours Tuesday night. A woman called 911 around 7:45 p.m. and said that her husband was armed and making threats. Everyone in the home except him got out when police arrived and police heard gunshots from inside the home during the standoff. They found him dead once they went inside.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On April 2,2024 the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in area of 4600 Parkerdale Drive at approximately 7:45pm. Police received a call from a female who advised that her husband was making threats with a firearm of self-harming.
Upon Police arrival, all other residents were able to leave the home, but the subject refused to come out and barricaded himself inside the residence. Multiple attempts were made to compel the subject to come out voluntarily but were refused. Shots were heard coming from the residence from Officers on scene.
An Emergency Service Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit page was sent. After numerous attempts failed to get the subject to come out voluntarily; EST made entry into the residence. Once EST was inside, they were able to clear the residence, and found the subject deceased.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Detectives, FWPD Crime Scene Unit, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.
