GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says that a man is being charged in connection to an overdose death from fentanyl.
Police say that 20-year-old Thomas Maberry sold the drug to a person who died in July of 2023. He has now been charged with a felony charge of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office released the following:
In a death investigation started in July 2023, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Thomas Maberry of Marion, IN. The charge of Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 1 felony with a bond amount of $ 200,000 cash only.
This is the result of an overdose death investigation where Investigators were able to obtain probable cause to believe Thomas Maberry was responsible for causing the victim’s death by selling the victim a controlled substance, in this case fentanyl. Sheriff Garcia has stated on more than one occasion that persons responsible for profiting from these drug sales will be investigated and arrested by the Sheriff’s Office. The Grant County Prosecutor and Coroner have been instrumental in this and other investigations resulting in death.
In this difficult time, the victim’s name will not be given out of respect for the family.
