LAGRANGE CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department says that a 30-year-old Elkhart man died Friday while leading police on a cross-county chase that ended with a crash involving a semi.
The pursuit started in Branch County and continued into LaGrange County around 4:30 p.m. Officers found him heading southbound on CR 1100 E. He reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection with SR 120. He crashed into a semi that was hauling potatoes, causing both vehicles to veer off the road, according to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department.
The driver of the car, identified as Anthony Wayne Grant of Elkhart, died in the crash. The semi-driver was not hurt.
The incident and crash remain under investigation by the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office. A reconstruction report will be completed by the Indiana State Police.
