FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that a child is expected to recover after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning. It happened at Lake Avenue and Anthony Boulevard around 6:40 a.m. That is when police say that a group of kids ran into the intersection when oncoming vehicles had the green light.
The driver of the vehicle reported hitting the brakes but still hit one of the children. Police say they are cooperating with the investigation.
The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a traffic accident involving a juvenile pedestrian struck in the area of Lake/Anthony at roughly 6:40 am this morning. Preliminary information and witness accounts indicate that the driver of the vehicle was traveling on Anthony and had the green light when a group of children darted across the intersection. The driver slammed on the brakes, but could not avoid hitting the juvenile. The driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with the investigation. Officers arrived on scene and rendered aid to the child, who is in non life-threatening condition. TRAA took over care and transported the juvenile to a local hospital. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
