UPDATE (August 29, 2023):
The Allen County Coroner has identified the driver who died in a crash Friday morning.
The coroner identified the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as 41-year-old Jeremiah Andrew Helgesen from Fort Wayne.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department initially said that Helgesen was driving in the 10,300 block of Wayne Trace around 1:45 a.m. when his vehicle hit a pole for an unknown reason. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner determined the cause of his death was multiple blunt force injuries, and ruled the manner of death an accident.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
On Friday, August 25th, 2023, at about 01:30 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash located in the 10300 block of Wayne Trace, in Fort Wayne. A vehicle had left the roadway. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver has been identified as Jeremiah Andrew Helgesen, male, White, 41 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Notification has been made to the next of kin. The Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries and the Manner of Death is Accident. Jeremiah Andrew Helgesen is the 26th motor vehicle fatality for Allen County in 2023. The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

ALLEN CO. Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says one person was killed in an overnight crash in southeast Allen County.
Police responded shortly before 2 a.m. Friday in the 10,300 block of Wayne Trace, close to Hoffman Road.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says that it appears a passenger vehicle went off the road and hit a utility pole. before rolling. Medics pronounced the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, dead at the scene.
The Allen County Coroner will release the victim’s identity and manner of death at a later time. The crash remains under investigation.

On August 25, 2023, at approximately 1:48 A.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 10300 block of Wayne Trace, reference a single vehicle crash.
Officers and medics arrived on scene and located a passenger car that left the roadway and struck a utility pole, then rolled. Medics pronounced the adult male driver deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s identity.
This crash remains under investigation.
