FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials with the Fort Wayne Police Department say one person was critically injured in a shooting downtown early Sunday morning. Officers responded to Lewis St. and S. Clinton St. just before 3 a.m.
Police said that a man was driving home when a car pulled up at the intersection of Lewis and Clinton and opened fire. The man drove to Francis Street where he called for help.
Right now, the FWPD says they don’t have any description of the suspect’s vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward by calling the department or through Crime Stoppers.
The FWPD released the following:
On April 16, 2023 at approximately 02:56am Fort Wayne Police were called to Lewis St. and S. Clinton St. in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers observed several shell casings in the immediate area.
Officers were advised of a secondary scene at in the 900 block of Francis St. where contact was made with the victim. The victim, a male adult, was suffering from injuries from being shot while riding as a passenger in a vehicle in the area of Lewis St. and S. Clinton St. The victim was provided medical treatment and transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
There is no suspect information at this time, the incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
