DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says that a man was hurt when he crashed his motorcycle trying to avoid hitting a deer.
It happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday when Mark Elkins, 57, was on the 700 block of CR 27 when there was a deer in the roadway. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says that Elkins swerved his 2011 Yamaha to miss the deer but wound up losing control.
Elkins was thrown from the motorcycle and police say he suffered injuries to his leg and neck. He was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Damage to the motorcycle is estimated to be about $5,000.
