FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials with the Fort Wayne Fire Department say crews responded to a house fire on the city’s north side Thursday afternoon on Stonecreek Trail.
Just after 4 p.m., crews found the fire in the kitchen and smoke throughout the rest of the house.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in less than ten minutes. No one was inside at the time however, the FWFD said that three pets were rescued.
The fire was determined to be accidental.
The house suffered heavy smoke damage and moderate fire and water damage, according to the FWFD.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire called in by the homeowner as he arrived home. When fire units arrived, fire was found in the kitchen area with smoke throughout the rest of the house. Crews extinguished the fire quickly and at the same time searched the home for 2 dogs and 1 cat. All 3 pets were found alive and removed from the house. The fire was brought under control in a few minutes. Fire investigators were able to determine the cause to be accidental in nature. Assisting at the scene was TRAA, NHC, AEP, and Nipsco.
