FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that a man is facing charges after a drug investigation.
26-year-old Kevin Jerelle Jones, Jr. was arrested for drug dealing and neglect of a dependent charges Tuesday after detectives with the police department’s Gang and Violent Crimes Unit had been watching a home at 6204 Pheasant Pass.
Police say they gathered evidence to make the arrest. However, when officers tried to place him in custody he took off and led them on a pursuit. According to a press release, he attempted to throw out a backpack that got caught on a door.
Eventually, he was arrested and police found drugs including fentanyl and cocaine in the bag. At the Pheasant Pass home officers found more drugs and guns. Police said the drugs and guns were accessible to four small children in the home.

Detectives with the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit had been conducting a narcotics & firearrms investigation at 6204 Pheasant Pass on Kevin Jones. Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and cocaine charges on Jones. Detectives attempted a stop on Jones leaving the home, and led us on a pursuit. He threw his backpack out the window, but it got caught on the door. Once apprehended, we recovered from the backpack: 512 grams of fentanyl / fake Percocet pills, 87 grams of cocaine, and 30 grams of powder fentanyl . During the warrant, we recovered 3 illegal fireams, more fentanyl, and methamphetamine. Four small children were in the home, and the narcotics and firearms were in reach of them.
