FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A motorcyclist is hospitalized in critical condition after his bike was hit by an SUV near Fort Wayne International Airport Tuesday morning.
Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that the SUV turned onto Airport Expressway just before 7:30 a.m. and hit the oncoming motorcycle.
The driver and two passengers in the vehicle were not hurt. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred today at Baer Rd. & Airport Expressway around 7:24 am. Preliminary information indicates that a black Mercury SUV was traveling South on Baer Rd. and turned left (East) onto Airport Expressway in front of a maroon motorcycle traveling West on Airport Expressway causing the crash. The adult female driver and the two occupants of the SUV were uninjured. The adult male driver of the motorcycle was in critical condition at the scene and was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to a local hospital by TRAA where his condition remained critical to life-threatening. The Fatal Accident Crash Team was paged and took over the investigation.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
