FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that happened early Sunday morning off Decatur Road.
FWPD officials say that 19-year-old Dakota Waudby was arrested in connection to the shooting investigation and is now charged with one count of Murder.
According to an initial report, police were called at approximately 1:06 a.m. Sunday morning. The City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 7915 Decatur Road in reference to a shooting that was reported by several witnesses.
Officers arrived and located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
On Monday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office released the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death:
On Sunday November 28, 2021 at about 01:05 hours, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted and notified of a shooting investigation located in the 7900 block of Decatur Road. Fort Wayne Police and the Fort Wayne Fire Department were dispatched to the scene reference a shooting investigation. Upon arrival at the scene fire department medics pronounced death.
The deceased has been positively identified as Renako Sadiki Kenyatta Thomas, male black 34 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death.
The Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of the Chest and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Renako Sadiki Kenyatta Thomas is the 38th Homicide in Allen County for 2021. This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutors Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
