FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – There are a lot of unanswered questions about the death of a two-year-old in Fort Wayne.
Last week, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office said there is an investigation into the boy’s death, but no one is saying how he died or if there’s foul play involved. The coroner has said further tests are needed.
Officials would only say police were sent to the boy’s home on the 7900 block of Serenity Drive Wednesday night for a ‘problem unknown.’ In addition to the deceased toddler, the coroner’s office says another child was taken to the hospital.
Fort Wayne Police don’t have any answers either as they simply say the investigation is ongoing.
The Allen County Coroner’s released the following:
On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at about 20:25 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to a problem unknown investigation in the 7900 block of Serenity Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where 2 juveniles were found unresponsive.
Both juveniles received medical care at the scene by officers, the Fort Wayne Fire Department and TRAA Paramedics. The juveniles were transported from the scene to a local hospital. At about 2207 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted and advised of the death of Terris Johnson, male black 2 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, who was pronounced deceased at the hospital, shortly after arrival.
The other juvenile was admitted to the hospital.
An autopsy has been completed and the Cause of Death is Pending, with the Manner of Death as Pending Further Investigation.
This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
