CELINA, Ohio (ADAMS) – A press conference was held Thursday morning in Mercer County to give an update on a years-old homicide. Sheriff Jeff Grey said a day earlier that there had been a substantial break in the Ryan Zimmerman case.
Mr. Zimmerman was identified as the victim when the human bones were located by a hiker in West Bank State Park just off of US 127 in January 2016.
The Mercer County Sheriff says one person is in custody and another is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot in connection.
Sheriff Jeff Grey said yesterday that 30-year-old Sarah Buzzard of Marion, Indiana confessed to killing Ryan Zimmerman and disposing of his body at Grand Lake State Park. Sheriff Grey said Buzzard’s wife fatally shot herself in the head after learning she would be arrested for murder. Zimmerman was last seen in Columbus in September 2015, not long after he moved to the city from Corbin, Kentucky.
