FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say two men and a juvenile were hurt in a crash Sunday afternoon.
Police say that it happened at Bowser and Oxford and that one vehicle wound up striking a building around 2:15 Sunday afternoon.
FWPD officials released the following:
On August 15, 2021 shortly after 2:15 pm the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bowser and Oxford.
Officers were advised that there was 2 vehicles involved and one of the vehicles was smoking and there was also one of the vehicles that had struck a building.
Upon Officers arrival they located 2 vehicles that were involved in this accident, and 1 of the vehicles was an SUV and the other was a passenger car.
Officers located a total of 3 victims involved with this accident. All 3 victims were transported to a local hospital with Non Life Threatening Injuries. A short time later Officers were advised that one of the Adult Male Victims had been downgraded to having Life Threatening Injuries.
At this time the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Investigators were
called to the scene along with Fort Wayne Police Department Air Support Units to investigate the crash. Initial information supplied to officers and investigators by witnesses stated that the
SUV was traveling North on Bowser and was proceeding across Oxford at which time the motor vehicle was heading West on Oxford and witnesses stated that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles and struck the SUV causing the SUV to leave the roadway and strike a building at the corner of Oxford and Bowser and the motor vehicle continued a short distance and came to rest along the side of the road.
Early indications would suggest that Excessive Speed and Improper Use of Safety Restraint may be a contributing factor in this accident.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
