Fort Wayne police arrested a juvenile Wednesday afternoon in connection with a shooting that left a woman with critical injuries in August of last year.
Police said it happened on August 20 around 1:30 a.m. on E. Lewis Street during a “large gathering”. When police arrived, they found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The FWPD said on Thursday that a juvenile was arrested on Lexington Court in connection to the shooting.
According to police, the subject had an active warrant. The juvenile is also now facing preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery.

On Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at 1452 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department arrested a juvenile in the area of 200 Lexington Court. The Fort Wayne Homicide Unit conducted the criminal investigation and had several criminal charges against the juvenile suspect in connection to a shooting that occurred on August 20, 2022 in the 1500 block of E. Lewis Street. During the subsequent investigation, multiple weapons were recovered and the juvenile suspect transported to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center. The Fort Wayne Homicide Unit was assisted by the Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, the Narcotics Division, the Aerial Support Unit, Crime Scene Management and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting early Saturday morning.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, around 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 1500 block of East Lewis Street for an unknown problem.
Police think the woman was shot during some kind of gathering and many witnesses left before police arrived.
FWPD officials released the following:
On Saturday, 08/20/2022, at approximately 1:29 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1500 block of E. Lewis Street regarding a problem unknown.
Officers arrived on scene to find an adult female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. A large gathering was taking place at the residence when the shooter(s) fired several rounds, one striking the victim. Several people attending the gathering left the scene before police arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is reported as being in life- threatening condition.
