The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people killed in a crash on Friday morning.
The coroner’s office released the following:
“The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified, and made notifications to the next of kin of the deceased individuals that were involved in a motor vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Lindenwood Avenue, in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at about 00:51 hours, Friday, July 10, 2020. They have been identified as Kelly M. Crump, female, white, age 45, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Todd William Jackson, male, white, age 49, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Kelly M. Crump was a passenger in a vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree, while Todd William Jackson was the operator of the vehicle. Both occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
For both Kelly M. Crump and Todd William Jackson, the Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash, and the Manner of Death is Accident.
Kelley M. Crump is the 15th traffic fatality, while Todd William Jackson is the 16th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2020.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man and woman are dead after a crash just before one this morning at Spring and Lindenwood.
FWPD officials say that just before 1 a.m., the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Spring Street and Lindenwood Avenue reference a traffic hazard. A witness called dispatch to report a tree limb was blocking the roadway.
Officers arrived and determined the tree limb in the road was caused by a vehicle crash.
Officers located a vehicle off the east side of the roadway in the Lindenwood Cemetery. A male/adult and female/adult were inside the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced both deceased at the scene.
Evidence indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound in the 1300 block of Lindenwood Avenue when it crossed the centerline and left the east side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and fence after leaving the road. Investigators reported the vehicle flipped at least once before coming to rest in the cemetery. They indicated speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victims. Lindenwood Avenue
will remain closed to all traffic between Spring Street and Illinois Road while investigators process the scene.
