The major players in Hollywood haven’t embraced the streaming revolution . . . but this might mark a turn in that direction.
STEVEN SPIELBERG and his Amblin production company have entered into a deal to make movies for Netflix.
In 2019, Spielberg reportedly urged the Motion Picture Academy to ban movies released to theaters and streaming services simultaneously from Oscar consideration.
Apparently, he never actually did that, but he is still a champion of people seeing movies in theaters.
Amblin already DOES help produce stuff for streaming . . . including the Netflix series “The Haunting of Hill House”.
Under the new deal, Amblin will produce two movies a year for Netflix, for an unspecified number of years.
