Overnight fire sends crews to the Island Club Apartments

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – An overnight fire sent crews to a local apartment complex. Two people made it out just after midnight when flames broke out in the kitchen of a unit at the Island Club Apartments.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Units responded to 2310 Anchor Way in a matter of minutes.

The first fire units observed moderate smoke showing from the apartment building. Initial fire crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and quickly extinguished the fire in the kitchen.

Two people self-evacuated from the apartment before firefighters arrived on the scene and there were no injuries reported.

The fire was under control in 13 minutes. FWFD officials say the apartment suffered minor fire and water damage and moderate smoke damage.
