One dead, two others hurt in shootings at “large gathering”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one person is dead and two others were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning. Officers responded to the 1100 E Lewis reference a shooting just before 4 a.m.

FWPD officials say that initial reports were that a man had been in the leg. When officers arrived there were actually three victims. All appeared to be adults. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and two additional victims were taken to a local hospital. Both have been reported to have nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police say the incident occurred at a large gathering. During the evening, officers said there had been upwards of about 100 people at the party. There were several people present during the shooting and police are asking those people who were present to please call Homicide Detectives to assist with any information they may have regarding this homicide.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Allen County Coroner after notification of next of kin. Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene will take over the investigation.
