One dead in Coliseum Inn shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Fort Wayne are looking for answers about a deadly shooting at a local motel. Officers found a man shot to death inside a room at the Coliseum Inn about 11 p.m last night.

A witness reported a male had been shot inside one of the motel rooms. Officers located the male/adult victim and observed he was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound (s). Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Detectives interviewed guests at the motel and reviewing surveillance video. In addition, witnesses were transported to police headquarters for interviews. Detectives hope to obtain suspect information once those interviews are concluded. Later on Thursday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office identified the victim.

The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the male victim that was found at the Coliseum Inn at 1020 North Coliseum Boulevard in Fort Wayne, on July 8, 2020, at approximately 22:59 hours. The deceased has been positively identified as Jean Emmanuel Duperat a male, black, 41 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Jean Emmanuel Duperat is the 24th Homicide in Allen County for 2020. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
