WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (ADAMS) – We now know the name of the recently acquired online college purchased by Purdue University.
According to the Lafayette Journal and Courier, it will be known as Purdue University Global, a name approved by trustees on Thursday.
It will replace the for-profit Kaplan University chain that currently has 32,000 students taking classes online and at more than two dozen campuses throughout the U.S.
Purdue is awaiting final approval of the acquisition of Kaplan. The name, Purdue University Global cannot be official until the Higher Learning Commission approves the deal.
The Associated Press reports that there has been some concern that Purdue’s brand could be tarnished by the move, if the the online school doesn’t match that of it’s brick-and-mortar campuses.
