Man and woman critically injured in S. Clinton shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A man and a woman are both in critical condition after a shooting off S. Clinton.

Officers responded to the Popeye’s restaurant at 2600 S Clinton St just before 10 pm Monday night. When they arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One adult male and one adult female were taken to a local hospital. At the hospital, doctors stated they had life-threatening injuries. Homicide detectives along with Crime Scene Units were paged to the scene.

Police say they do not believe the shooting happened inside the restaurant. It appears to have happened in the area and the victim went to the restaurant for help.

At this time in the investigation, FWPD officials say it is too early to speculate on what actually occurred and they are asking anyone with information to come forward and speak to detectives.

Clinton St was shut down at 10:00 pm for the duration of this investigation from Woodland St to Pontiac St. It was closed until around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
