Indiana to require full-time work search for unemployment

UPDATE (May 12, 2021):

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Hoosiers applying for unemployment benefits will soon be required to look for full-time work.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development will require applicants to have a weekly work search report starting June 1st.

This comes from an executive order signed by Governor Holcomb. The department said it will notify those affected about the changes to give them time to prepare.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – People on unemployment in Indiana are going to have to look for work.

On Monday, Governor Eric Holcomb said he is reinstating the work search requirement in the state.

Indiana waived the work search requirement during the worst of the coronavirus outbreak last year.

Businesses across the state say they need workers, but they cannot find them because too many people are getting extra unemployment benefits.

The governor says he’ll issue an order requiring people to apply for jobs later this week.
