UPDATE (May 3, 2021):
The Allen County Coroner has identified a man killed in a stabbing over the weekend.
The Coroner’s Office released the following:
The Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted at about 0550 hours on Sunday May 2, 2021 reference the death of Roderick J. Patterson, male black, 25 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Fort Wayne Police Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority Medics were dispatched to a stabbing investigation in the 2400 block of Trentman Avenue, Fort Wayne and located Roderick J. Patterson suffering from a stab wound. Medics transported Roderick J. Patterson from the scene to a local hospital, death was pronounced a short time after arrival.
An autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death. The Cause of Death is Stab Wound of the Chest and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Roderick J. Patterson is the 13th Homicide in Allen County for 2021.
This continues to be investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that a man is dead following a stabbing early Sunday morning south of downtown.
Immediately following, officers didn’t appear to have much information to go on.
FWPD officials released the following:
On 5/2/2021 at approximately 3:57 AM Officers’ with the Fort Wayne Police Department responding to 2400 Trentman Ave. in regards to a stabbing. The victim arrived at a residence on Trentman and the resident at that address called Police. The victim was an adult male with critical injuries. He was treated at the scene by Medics and transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the stabbing occurred elsewhere at an unknown location. The victim died a short time later while at the hospital. This investigation is ongoing; anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers or use the P3 app.
