Victim in Rodeway Inn shooting identified

UPDATE:

The Allen County Coroner has identified Fort Wayne’s latest homicide.  The coroner’s office released the following:

The autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified in reference to the deceased individual that was found at the Roadway Inn, located at 2920 Goshen Road, in Fort Wayne, on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at approximately 04:09 hours. The deceased is Angel May Carter, female, white, age 19, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Police were called to the scene reference a shooting and Angel May Carter was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Cause of Death has been determined to be a Gunshot Wound and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Angel May Carter is the 29th Homicide in Allen County for 2020. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Thomas Jackson

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Fort Wayne know who they are looking for in a deadly Sunday morning shooting.

Investigators named 40-year-old Thomas Jackson as a person of interest in the shooting at the Rodeway Inn that happened about 4 a.m. A woman who was staying in the hotel died.

Police at the scene said because of the inherent danger of the investigation, the Emergency Services Team was summoned to assist with the search of the adjacent room. After the search was completed, nothing of note was found.
Around 8 a.m., officers obtained information leading them to suspect Jackson.
Thomas J. Jackson is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Police are not offering a motive in the case, but they are asking people to help them find Jackson. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and to call 911.
